Twin Lakes sits at the foot of Mount Elbert with two huge glacial lakes and almost no crowds. Bailey and Zac made the most of every inch of it.
Why Twin Lakes
Twin Lakes is a tiny historic town between Leadville and Buena Vista, with two massive alpine lakes and the Sawatch Range as a backdrop. It's quieter than Maroon Bells, just as scenic, and far more accessible for an intimate ceremony.
The Day
We walked the shoreline, found a quiet aspen grove for vows, and finished with portraits as the wind died and the lake went still.
Planning a Twin Lakes Elopement
Late June through early October is the sweet spot. Bring layers, even in July, the wind off the lake bites. Lodging is limited in town; plan to base out of Leadville or Buena Vista.
